How is the CleanUp event going?

- Pick up trash on 9/22/22 for 1 hour
- Publish a photo and the results of the collection

Can cleaning be arranged during working hours?
Yes, for 1 hour maximum, preferably during lunch. Be sure to pick a time that works for the site and everyone involved.

Does this event only concern BESIX or also partners and subcontractors?
The BESIX Cleanup Day is a voluntary event for BESIX employees and contractors. The Solidarity Day CleanUp (18/09/22) is also open for relatives of BESIX employees.

Can we form different teams?
Yes, larger venues can form multiple teams of up to 10 participants. Choose your cleaning areas wisely and make sure there is no overlap.

When do I have to register?
You can register until September 19 if you do not need specific equipment.

How do you find a good place to clean?
Do not go too far: probably along the fences of the construction sites, the waste accumulates there. You can go to the nearest street or the nearby park. Make sure you know your area before you start cleaning.

Should waste be separated during collection?
Yes, waste must be separated as much as possible into the following fractions: PMD, glass bottles, paper/cardboard, hazardous waste and household waste.

Where can I get pliers?
You can order them when you register your team (for the European region). For other regions, to be coordinated with BESIX Foundation (D. de Spirlet) and/or with local resellers.

Where can I get waste collection bags?
Use the same bags you normally use in the office, job site, or home.

Where should I leave the filled bags?
Bring the waste to the construction site or office and put it in the appropriate bin; you can also put the glass bottles in the communal glass bubbles.

What PPE should I use?
You must wear a fluorescent vest and gloves. Also wear appropriate clothing and closed shoes.

Are there any health risks?
Certain types of waste, such as syringes, can pose health risks. We therefore recommend the use of gloves. In any case, use your common sense and take precautions when picking up sharp objects, unknown packaging or hazardous waste.
